Broken XBOX

I saw this video on IGN just barely and laughed my oversized butt off! Thought I'd share with the rest of the world. Good times!

p.s. for those of you who don't know when you're XBOX 360 goes "3 Red Rings" it's not a Lord of the Rings reference, it means that your XBBOX is now a $399.99 paper weight and needs to be shipped back to Microsoft to be fixed.

p.s.s. and how awesome is it that they end the video with a celebitory jump in the air pause with St. Elmos Fire by John Parr playing in the background!!! Could this video be any more awesome?!?!? I submit it can NOT!!!

...Well maybe if it had a T-Rex in it, then it would be more awesome... and fire came out it's mouth... A fire-breathing T-Rex??? Okay now thats just crazy insane awesome!

Bond, James Bond.

Needless to say this first ever direct sequel in the 007 franchise is no Casino Royale; but that’s not to intend that Quantum of Solace is a bad movie, it’s a good film just lacking in certain important areas. Those going into see the new Bond film expecting some incredible action won’t be disappointed in the least bit. Quantum of Solace is from start to finish one nail biting action sequence after another. That being said, this unfortunately is Quantum’s main strong point and sadly overcompensates for the lack of character development and story due to last year’s writers strike.

Picking up one hour after where Casino Royale ends Bond is now after the illusive organization called Quantum, an organization so secret that neither MI6, nor the CIA has ever heard of them, till now. Bond takes this mission to a very personal degree for it was Quantum that was behind what caused Vesper Lynd to defect from her country and break Bond’s heart. This brings M to believe that Bond is out on a personal vendetta, wanting revenge instead of completing the mission. After seeing the movie I agreed, that was until I watched Casino Royale again and thought back on Quantum of Solace; this Bond is very different from the Bond we were introduced to in Casino Royale. The new Bond has learned from his mistakes made in the first movie, he analyzes things first rather than letting his ego get the best of him. Not implying that he’s no longer brash, he still is, just sharper and smarter. You’ll pick this up as his kills become more and more stylish. Bonds motives aren’t focused on revenge, he’s looking for answers and closure. Daniel Craig in my opinion pulled off the emotions of a broken man flawlessly. He may not behave or look like the Bond we’ve come to know and love but he does get my vote for the Best Bond since Sean Connery.

There are many things I would have like to see differently in Quantum of Solace, first and mainly is the organization Quantum. By the end of the movie I had a lot of questions about Quantum that the movie had purposely set up but alas the credits rolled and I had little or no answers. I only hope this organization that is apparently backed by some very powerful people within governments and other organizations comes back with a fury in one of the future Bond movies. Our main villain, Dominic Greene played by French actor Matthieu Amalric was created very poorly. I never once bought throughout the movie that he was a leading member of Quantum or for that matter a credible threat, just another pawn like our dear deceased Le Chiffre from Casino Royale. Who portrayed a better villain within his first five minutes on screen than Dominic Greene could the entire film. And lastly a character I would have loved to see a little more developed, the main Bond girl Camille Montes played by Olga Kurylenko. Who is out for revenge against an exiled General that Quantum is about to put back into power who murdered her family in front of her. I felt out of all the new supporting characters, hers was one I wanted to see more of.

Yes, Quantum of Solace does lack in what made Casino Royale a great movie, but nevertheless Quantum is a thrilling Bond film, and one hell of a good time. Hopefully they can keep this up and help us all forget the blunders of Pierce Brosnan’s last three additions to the Bond franchise.

Okay they were a little stale since I got them at Wal-Mart, and everything at Wal-Mart is always sub-par and never as good as it should be. Because hey it’s Wal-Mart and “We force local small businesses to permanently close their doors,” but stale or not they were delicious!

Actually compared to my last post I’m feeling pretty good. I was offered a job as a full-time server at Chili’s. But I’m not taking it. Alas they offer no benefits… But it felt good to know I was offered a job.

Seeing

Chuck Season 1

I didn’t get into this show till two weeks ago when I watch an episode at my brother’s house, I came home and immediately added the first season to my Netflix queue. Since then I’ve burned copies of them and have watched the first season almost twice through… Hey I don’t have a job; I have a lot of free time! And Sarah in that show is incredibly HOT!!!

Hearing

The Chainsaw reving up on my Lancer before I take to the chest of a Locust Drone. Gears of War 2 is the most intense game I’ve played in a long time! I know I’m a geek, I’ve already beat the game; it’s that awesome and I couldn’t put the controller down.

Call me what you will but take the level and degree’s of nerdom into effect. There’s:

Dork - A dork is the lowest level of nerdom. A dork does a few of these, but in very little amount(i.e. 3-6 hours a week), partake in Xbox Lan parties, plays computer strategy/role playing games, Likes one of the following series; Star Wars, Star Trek, and Lord of the Rings.

Geek - Geek the middle class of nerdom. A geek plays video games regularly, reads comics/graphic novels semi-regularly, collects action figures, fully loves the original Star Wars Trilogy (And that includes Ewoks… The rebellion would have failed if it weren’t for these furry forest creatures!), and curses George Lucas’s name for the New Trilogy ( Jar Jar… really George? You know you created the most hated and annoying character in movie history. And he single handedly gave the republic over to the empire, Bravo! Next time you want rape a series do it to Planet of the Apes because no one watches nor cares about that series, leave Star Wars and Indiana Jones alone.) Enjoys Lord of the Rings, or Star Trek, but not both

Nerd - The highest level of nerdom. Nerds are the bane of all the previous levels and give them a bad name. These are the pale skinned creatures that come out from their parent’s basements only to join a fellow nerd in a skilled competition of D&D or for the new Final Fantasy game… They have a very unpleasant hair style, poor hygiene, long finger nails, and shower monthly. These are the type of people that you see dress up as their favorite character for whatever convention they may be attending. And most likely have the Klingon language memorized; if not, they most likely have created their own language. To these creatures of the basement Lord of the Rings Star Trek and Star Wars is real… or they wish it was real.

That being said I gladly admit to being a Geek.

I can't think of a witty title.

I know I said I would keep up with weekly posts and I’ll admit I’ve been… oh how to put this delicately… sucking it up! You’d think with currently not being employed I’d have all the time in the world to write a simple blog. This however isn’t the case; I’ll admit lately I have been up late in the evening, watching a DVD, playing Fallout 3, or simply reading. And despite what my friends and family have seen or think, I haven’t just been living in my basement playing Xbox. I do other things like i have been out and about trying to find places I would like to work at. So far I've been drawing up blanks, then I tend to get lost in my thoughts. During the day I tend to wake up round 10am, and do a little cleaning and sit down to figure out where I want to go from my current position to the next… Being unemployed has given me the opportunity to kind of start over if you will. Where do I go from here…? I would love to finish school, but to what degree? Just get my associates? Continue past that and graduate? Or go to an independent school to learn a trade? Find a job that I can turn into a career? I don’t know? I feel overwhelmed, like I’m standing in the middle of a fog storm knowing that every direction around me is an exit to the clearing. But is the direction I choose the heading of where I want to be when I clear the fog. There’s so much I want to do, see, and accomplish in my life. How do you decide where to start without becoming stuck and everything you want in life to become just a hopeless dream? I guess what I’m saying is while walking through the fog, will I “accidentally” trip on a rock and start walking in a different direction than I intended and be happy with the outcome; The rock in this metaphor being a hint at fate. I know that there isn’t such a thing exactly as fate, being that we have free agency. But I do believe that when we are stuck or have gotten too stubborn with the direction we’ve chosen that the powers that be will send you hint at the way out to a better outcome, but only when you are ready for it. Whether you take that hint or just ignore it is up to you. I just hope it isn’t much longer till I get pointed in the right direction.
